Spectacular River Trips on The Attawapiskat River – A Trophy Fishing Paradise for Experienced Trailblazers

Experience the untamed beauty of the Attawapiskat River, a world-famous destination for trophy fishing. Renowned for its stunning landscapes and rich biodiversity, this river offers the ultimate escape for avid anglers and wilderness adventurers. Hearst Air provides exceptional self-guided trips for fishing, paddling, and camping, ensuring an unforgettable journey into the heart of nature.

A Fisherman’s Paradise

The Attawapiskat River boasts pristine waters and abundant aquatic habitats, creating unparalleled fishing conditions. Walleye, celebrated for its delectable taste, is a prime attraction. For thrill-seekers, the northern pike offers an exhilarating challenge, known for its strength and aggressive nature. As the saying goes, “On the Attawapiskat, when it hits, it hits hard!”

Begin your adventure at Carey Lake, Hearst Air’s float plane base near Hearst, Ontario. From there, embark on a two-hour flight north, covering 200 miles of tundra and boreal forest, before landing at the Pym Island base camp. Each group will receive two Porta-Botes, accommodating two anglers and their gear per boat. These vessels, with their wide bottoms and ample space, are ideal for drifting, paddling, and navigating the river.

Drift downstream with the current or navigate upstream using an outboard motor (maximum weight: 65 lbs). For safety, the motor weight limit is strictly enforced. Camping locations are flexible, allowing you to adapt to the river’s offerings. Additionally, designated camping stations are equipped with platforms, overhangs, firepits, and drying areas for clothes and equipment. Cook meals over an open fire, witness the mesmerizing northern lights, and plan your next day’s expedition into some of the finest trophy fishing waters imaginable.

Finish the trip after 7 days on the river, at Canada Lake camp where the float plane will pick you up and return to base.
