Hillmer Lake Outpost Camp

Hillmer Lake Outpost Camp

The Sutton River is world renowned for its abundance of those beautiful trophy brookies. You will have the opportunity to catch both native and sea-run speckle trout in this river. It is everything you read about and more. The Sutton is that once in a lifetime fishing trip you will always remember. I will never get tired of seeing the faces of those lucky enough to return from the trip as they step off the airplane and, with a big sigh, smile that thankful grin that says it all.

There are many ways to enjoy this trip.

Hillmer lake cabin is situated on a sandy beach. This location is ideal for bathing and viewing eagles and other animals feeding off the rocky outcrop nearby. Hillmer is a favorite for walleye and perch fishermen as it rarely fails in producing an abundance of fish no matter what the day brings. The lake is approximately 2.5 x 3 miles with an average depth of 15’ and offers a great variety of weed beds, inlets, rocky outcrops and deep holes (up to 40’) which are all idea for catching walleye, pike and perch. Overall an easy fishing experience for all.

The cabin is equipped with propane fridge, stove with an oven, pots and pans and all eating and cooking utensils. There are lanterns for light and a wood stove for heat. These camps are rustic but very comfortable and offer you a true wilderness experience without missing out on the necessities.

On Hillmer you should expect to catch huge amounts of fish. We consider Hillmer a numbers lake offering easy fishing and large numbers of Walleye and Northern Pike. When it comes to Walleye, this lake produces multiple limits of 2 to 3-pounders, several 4’s, and an occasional dandy 7-pounder. 3-6 pound Northern Pike are very common, however each season fish in the 10-14 pound class are caught.
